Your privacy is, of course, important to us. In order to help you understand what information we collect about you and how it is used, we have provided the following policy. This is not the standard legalese boilerplate stuff you find on other sites. Therefore, it's not so much a binding legal document (very few privacy statements are) as it is a list guidelines we follow in order to ensure your privacy is protected when using Wine Spotter.

Summary:

• If you told us you don't your information shared with folks not directly affiliated with Wine Spotter, your information will not be shared.
• If you told us you don't want to receive our newsletter, we won't send you anything unless it directly affects your ability to use this site.
• Though we do collect demographic information that could be tracked personally to you, we will only share our aggregate summary of this information, which does not include any of your personal information.

We have no desire or intention of opening your information up to a slew of marketers eager to inundate your email inbox with spam. However, we do work with other companies and individuals (our "partners") who will want to send you invitations and information about products, events and other things that may be of interest to you. When you sign up for an account at Wine Spotter, you are specifically asked whether it is OK for our partners to send this information to you. If you would prefer that they didn't, simply check the box labeled "No". Doing so means your personally identifiable information will not be shared with our partners, period. If you'd like to receive such offers from our partners, however, click on the box labeled "Yes". We will share your name, email address, mailing address and phone number, but only to those companies and individuals that we have determined will both deliver information you may be interested in and will not bug the living heck out of you. Keep in mind that, once this information is shared with our partners, there is little we can do to get it back. However, if you feel like one of our partners is abusing your information, we want to hear about it.

If at any time you have changed your mind about whether you want to receive such offers, you can edit your profile and change your selection. Please note, however, that if you initially makred "Yes" to receiving these offers, we may not be able to stop those partners who have already requested and received your information from continuing to contact you. You will, at that time, have to tell them specifically to stop. We will not, however, pass your information on to anyone else.

From time to time, we like to send out announcements about our site, information about offers Wine Spooter is providing and news and tips we believe you'll fond interesting. Collectively, we refer to these communications as our "newsletter". When you sign up for an account on Wine Spotter you are given the opportunity to request to receive these communications. If you selected "No", we won't send you any such emails unless they are critical to your use of the site. If you selected "Yes", however, we promise we'll do our best to keep these newsletters topical and relevant to your interests. If you chose to receive our newsletters but not information from our partners, please rest assured that you will only receive communications from official agents of Wine Spotter - we will not sell, give or make available your information to anyone if you have asked us not to.

In order to maintain a well-running site that is also relevant to your needs and desires, we maintain records that frequently include pages on the site you have visted, links you may have clicked, images and information you have viewed and sites you visited that contained links to Wine Spotter (known typically as "referers").
